Frequently Asked Questions

Wondering if I'm the right trainer for you?

What do I need to bring?

An open mind.

And comfy workout clothes, shoes and a drink bottle. I’ll often get you to take your shoes off in order to feel the ground under you for certain exercises.

Can I bring my kids?

Yes! I have a 4.5 and 1 year old and they will usually be with me during sessions. I have a large baby playpen, comfy playmat and lots of toys available.

Life as a mum can get chaotic sometimes, and I’m right there with you! I get it if some days you may be exhausted from being up all night with your bub, or feeling anxious about new changes in your family life. I will always do my best to customise your movements to suit your energy on the day.

Please note: your children remain your responsibility while training with me, and I ask that they remain in the kids area during your session. They’re also welcome to jump on our trampoline in the backyard if you’re ok with that.

How early can you work with me Postpartum?

I can start working with you from 6 weeks PP. I really encourage you to get checked by a Women’s Health Physio once you have stopped bleeding to understand where you are on your healing journey post birth.

Despite exercise and movement looking a bit different PP, I’m here to progress you back to the activities you love in a way that suits your individual needs.

I have Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP), can I still train with you?

Absolutely! I’ve been there myself, and I understand how frustrating and scary it can be. As above, I would love you to see a women’s health physio to understand what type of prolapse you are experiencing. If you know you have a mild prolapse it’s safe to start with me right away, and I can give you a number of tools to connect with your pelvic floor, ease your discomfort, fast-track healing and get you back to moving in ways you love.

Laying on your back doing rehab exercises may be required at the very beginning, but to truly get your pelvic floor working optimally, you need to bridge the gap between Kegels, and getting back to interesting and dynamic movements which connect your pelvic floor with your whole body.

I want my pre-baby body back. Can you help me with this?

The body you had before kids doesn’t exist anymore, but you deserve to feel confident, strong and comfortable in the body you have right now.

You grew and birthed an entire little human, and that’s going to change your body a LOT!

If your body feels unfamiliar, painful or you're experiencing pelvic floor symptoms (prolapse, leaking, heaviness or pain) and you find yourself wishing for your pre-baby body, I get it. I've been there!

But I'm also here to empower you to embrace your new body and discover new ways to move. While I can’t diagnose or treat pain, I can work with you to restore and create better movement options.

I'm here to support you in connecting with your body so that you can learn to trust your own strength, feel safe pushing your own limits and move in ways that leave you feeling amazing.

Do you offer casual group sessions?

No. Sustainable change takes time. Relearning to trust your body and slowing down to tune into what it needs takes time.

Making a commitment to consistently show up month to month will mean the habits are more likely to stick.

I don't believe in quick fixes. I’m not here to thrash you so you can “feel the burn” and feel the temporary satisfaction of a tough session which leaves you in pain for days. I’m here to teach you to consistently move better in the gym, so you can enjoy movement in real life.

Yep, sometimes that can feel a little repetitive. Yep, we will be doing the same things over and over (in different ways). That's how you get better at doing them. That's how you build a strong and resilient body.

Do you do nutrition coaching?

Nutrition isn’t my area of expertise, however I’m very happy to refer you to some great nutrition coaches on the Island.

Can you help me with weight loss?

Losing weight is absolutely valid if that's your goal, and also can be a great side effect of getting stronger and building more muscle. However, I’m not a weight loss coach and this isn’t my area of expertise.

Rather than measuring results by weighing yourself or counting CM’s lost, I advocate tuning into HOW your body feels, and how your body functions.

If weightloss is your main goal I’m probably not the right trainer for you.

What I absolutely can help you with is better posture, a stronger body/core and a happy pelvic floor.
